Finding Mount Sinai Theses and Dissertations

The Levy Library provides access to theses and dissertations in hard copy and online.

Theses and Dissertations Online

Mount Sinai dissertations and theses are available in full-text online from 1996 forward. The easiest way to find find them is by searching the Levy Library Catalog. There is a direct link from the catalog record for each publication to the full-text.

  • Do a quick search by entering the word "dissertations" or "thesis" into the search box. Or, to browse a complete list, enter the search string "Dissertations, Academic as Topic New York City".
  • Use the Catalog's Advanced Search options to search for dissertations or theses in specific programs, or by title, author and subject.

You can also find Mount Sinai's online dissertations and theses by searching the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Database.

  • This database includes the full text of dissertations and theses from many schools; search for Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the "School name/code" field to see a list.
  • Dissertations and theses published in 1999 or before may be listed under the City University of New York, and can't be differentiated from other CUNY dissertations and theses. In ProQuest, to find a specific Mount Sinai dissertation or thesis from 1999 or earlier, it is best to search using the author or title.
Print Theses and Dissertations

Print theses and dissertations are located in the Library on the 10th floor, behind the current journals. They are divided according to degree program, then shelved in order by year. Within each year they are shelved alphabetically by author's last name.

To check whether we have a print copy of a dissertation or thesis, search the library Catalog.

Information about depositing your thesis or dissertation to the library can be found on the Submitting Your Thesis or Dissertation page.
